It's RIP basic human rights in 'worst UK legislation ever' looms
To LSE for a conference on the Interior Ministry's Regulation of Investigatory Powers (RIP) Bill, currently in Committee in the Mother of Parliaments. Readers of this column will know that, among other things, this odious piece of legislation reverses the ancient principle of natural justice that says that a person should be pre sumed innocent until proven guilty.

In years gone by, pulling off a hoax took a lot of planning and forethought. For instance, when Orson Welles wanted to fool half of the United States' radio-listening population into thinking that the planet was being invaded by aliens, he had to start a theater troupe, get a contract with CBS Radio, and wait until Halloween to broadcast an adaptation of War of the Worlds in radio news-show format.
But to wig people out these days, all you need is an email account, maybe a Web site, and an unhealthy attitude toward your fellow humans. Which may explain why Net hoaxes are so outrageously popular. This year the leg-pullers have been out in force--using email, the Web, and a new medium of choice, online auction sites--to spread mayhem. We've got five completely puerile new pranks to tell you about, and like last year, we've included pop-up windows that contain the full text of the original hoax--poor spelling, bad grammar, and all.

Second spy loses laptop
A second British spy has lost a laptop brimming with state secrets after getting "blind drunk" in a London bar. The latest secret service blunder came from MI6, and followed the agent getting blotto in a tapas bar in Vauxhall. According to today's Sun, the sozzled spook left the £2000 machine in a taxi he took from Rebato's tapas bar on 3 March.

Stickers en posters met HairyDrunkenLactatingSpottedMonkies.com en vele andere url's duiken in de gehele stad op. De media berichten sinds enkele dagen uitgebreid over de actievoerders. Gevolg: de website moest door het hevige dataverkeer offline. Smellthebacon.com......
